Libyan MB & al-Qaeda show support for Basit Igtet

Basit Igtet meeting Muslim_Brotherhood led by Mohamad Sawan. In the meeting also, Tunisia Muslim Brotherhood leader R. Ghannouchi.

Some supporters of the Libyan branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, & Shura Council-al-Qaeda in Libya, took to the streets of Libya’s capital Tripoli, Green/Martyrs’ Square, to show support for Basit Igtet. Basit Igtet is married to Sara Bronfman, who’s father Edgar was the treasurer & chief executive of the World Jewish Congress (WJC). Basit Igtet anounced his intentions to run for president, & called upon his supporters to take to the streets on the 25th, as he arrived in Libya traveling from his resident country of Switzerland.

It is estimated that Sara Bronfman has funneled more than $100 million of her assets into NXIVM. NXIVM has been described as a brainwashing cult. In a video of the leader Keith Raniere, he appears to make indirect death threats, when his leadership is questioned.
“I’ve had people killed because of my beliefs & because of their beliefs”:

Richard Branson has permitted his name and a quotation to be used in connection with NXIVM.

Basit Igtet meeting with John McCain. 2011 Benghazi?

In Lieberman’s final days as a senator, a reporter asked him if he would become a lobbyist. “No, I’m not going to do that,” he replied. But in November 2013, as Politico reported at the time, his law firm signed up as a foreign agent for Basit Igtet, a Libyan businessman and activist who was considering running for prime minister in Libya. Igtet made his money through assorted ventures in Switzerland, where his family had sought exile. He married Sara Bronfman, the daughter of Edgar Bronfman, who had been the billionaire chairman of Seagram and the president of the World Jewish Congress. The foreign agent registration form filed at the Justice Department noted that Lieberman would be part of the team handling this $100,000 project that would provide “government relations services” to Igtet.

A Benghazi native, Igtet was a long-shot candidate for prime minister. As Forbes noted, “Igtet believes he’s got the technocratic prowess to transform his country of six million people from the brink of civil war into the crown jewel of northern Africa. But skeptics say his status as a longtime expatriate and his lack of national security experience leave him ill-prepared to grasp control of deteriorating relations among warring rebel factions, police and the army.” And having a Jewish wife was probably not an asset. motherjones.com

Iraqi PM al-Abadi rejects U.S. congress divide & conquer bill

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has denounced a controversial US Congress bill aimed at dividing the Arab country into three states. In a phone conversation with US Vice President Joe Biden, Abadi expressed concern over the bill, a statement by the premier’s office said. The prime minister told Biden that he is opposed to such a plan which is aimed at weakening the unity of Iraq, it added. The White House also said in a statement that Abadi and Biden also spoke “about recent security developments inside Iraq.”

47 U.S. Senators may have undermined Iran nuclear talks

On the eve of fresh nuclear talks with Iran, US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed concern that a letter to Iran last week from 47 Republican senators may have undermined the fragile negotiations. The letter warned Iran that any deal made by President Barack Obama might last only as long as he remained in office.

Critics of the move claim the Senators violated the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorised citizens form negotiating with foreign governments. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, they say, punishable under US federal law with imprisonment of up to three years. euronews.com

Obama seeks $500M to train & equip Syria opposition

The Obama administration will seek $500 million from Congress to help “train and equip appropriately vetted elements of the moderate Syrian armed opposition,” funding that, if approved, would deepen U.S. involvement in that country’s civil war.

National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden announced on Thursday that the administration would seek the money that she said would build on “longstanding efforts” by the United States “to empower the moderate Syrian opposition.”

“These funds would help defend the Syrian people, stabilize areas under opposition control, facilitate the provision of essential services, counter terrorist threats, and promote conditions for a negotiated settlement,” she said.

This move would be significant, though it wouldn’t necessarily be surprising.

In fact, the U.S. government has been in close contact with some leading the fight to topple President Bashar al-Assad. Last summer, Congress approved some military support for Syrian rebels, and there’s been more back-and-forth since then.

At the start of the Syria war, many Syrians welcomed the help of foreign fighters who came from Islamic countries to support the fight against the Syrian regime.

It has been clear for some time now that these these fighters from the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) hope to achieve one goal: They want to create an Islamic state. But not all in the Syrian opposition share that goal. And this has caused tensions.

And we asked its vali – or governor of Allepo province, Abu Atheer – why some accuse them of trying to weaken Syrian opposition groups by taking control over border villages.

He didn’t want to be filmed. But he told us: if we wanted to cut the supply lines it is easier for us to take the warehouses of the FSA. Anyhow we are buying weapons from the FSA. we bought 200 anti-aircraft missiles and Koncourse anti tank weapons. We have good relations with our brothers in the FSA. For us, the infidels are those who cooperate with the West to fight Islam. aljazeera.com

Congress secretly approves U.S. arms to Syria opposition

Light arms supplied by the United States are flowing to “moderate” Syrian rebel factions in the south of the country and U.S. funding for months of further deliveries has been approved by Congress, according U.S. and European security officials.

The weapons, most of which are moving to non-Islamist Syrian rebels via Jordan, include a variety of small arms, as well as some more powerful weapons, such as anti-tank rockets.

The deliveries do not include weapons such as shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles, known as MANPADs, which could shoot down military or civilian aircraft, the officials said.

The weapons deliveries have been funded by the U.S. Congress, in votes behind closed doors, through the end of government fiscal year 2014, which ends on September 30, two officials said.

The apparently steady weapons flow contrasts with the situation last summer, when lethal U.S. aid to the Syrian rebels dried up for a time due to congressional reservations.

Congressional committees held up weapons deliveries for months over fears that U.S. arms would not prove decisive in the rebels’ efforts to oust President Bashar Assad and his government and could well end up in the hands of Islamist militants. reuters.com

Israeli lobby in the US is trying to undermine Iran deal

The Israeli lobby in the US is trying to undermine the Geneva agreement reached between Iran and world powers by suggesting that Tehran would “cheat” on the deal, a political commentator says.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany agreed Sunday to start implementing the six-month deal.

Several influential lobby groups, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), are working hard to build support for new sanctions on Iran.

“What the Israeli intelligence has been doing here with all their espionage and fifth column people, particularly in Congress, they have focused on trying to back up their legislation for sanctions with their new theme that they tried it out about a week and a half ago that Iran is already cheating on the current sanctions that are in place,” Jim W Dean of Veterans Today told Press TV on Monday. presstv.ir
