The cousin of the slain Libyan dictator, Muamar Gaddafi, Ahmed Gaddaf Al-Dam has disclosed that thousands of military soldiers who were part of Gaddafi’s brigades have joined Khalifa Haftar’s militias.
Al-Dam said Sunday, in a statement to the London-based newspaper, Asharq Al-Awsat, that he is holding meetings with what he described as “yesterday’s enemies” in Libya and outside it, pointing out that he is carrying out dialogues between his “leaders and their jailers” according to his statement.
He added that once the Tobruk-based House of Representatives endorses the UN-proposed government, he will pledge allegiance to it, indicating that he does not have any relationship with the Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, Fayez Al-Serraj.
“Gaddafi loyalists can never be marginalized by anyone; they are the strongest link in the Libyan scene.” Al-Dam added, indicating that what came out of Vienna talks last week was a “farce” in which many Libyan figures, including Fayez Al-Serraj, were used as “decoration” in the international summit.
He added that the US Department of the Treasury and the EU’s sanctions slammed on the Tobruk-based HoR’s Speaker, Aqilah Saleh, are unacceptable, illegitimate, and ill-mannered, saying they go at odds with the simplest Democracy rules and they are ineffective, as he described. libyaobserver.ly
In short sighted move; The UN government seeks to act as a proxy for weapons to the Muslim Brotherhood & al-Qaeda who cooperate with them against ISIS.
Note. Initially when ISIS entered Libya there was a truce, possibly coordiation between by ISIS & Dawn, against Haftar forces who were attempting to take back control of Tripoli, in favor of HoR the elected government.
Better times, khalifa haftar pictured with Muammar Gaddafi as a member of the revolutionary council that dispelled Idris. Haftar most likely has prior connections to the CIA, & may be connected to the assassination of Abdul Fatah Younis who he succeeded.
Fayez Sarraj hand picked by the UN, was born in Tripoli in 1960 into a prominent local family. His politician father, Mustafa, held office under King Idris, whose 18-year monarchy ended in 1969 when he was overthrown by Muammar Gaddafi.
Muammar Gaddafi Speech To United Nations [ 23. September 2009 – UN General Assembly ]
Note: United Nations removed the English transcript of his speech from its website and western media removed the transcript from all types of media resources, sighting mostly out of context quotes. Full speech
“The preamble says that the nations are equal whether they are small or big. Are we equal in the permanent seats. No. We are not equals. And the preamble says that all nations are equal whether they are small nations or whether they are big nations as far as rights. Do we have rights of a veto. Are we equals?”
“These countries actually resorted to aggressive wars and wars. And as a matter of fact, they enjoyed the veto that was given to them by themselves and enjoyed the member states of the Security Council. But in the meantime, they actually initiated the war which amounted to millions of victims.”
“It says that the armed forces only use it when it is a common interest to all nations.”
“It (Iraq war) was the interest of one country or three countries or four countries or one country. But it was not in the interest of all the nations.”
“No country has the right to interfere in this affair, the sort of government whether it is a socialist, capitalist system, or whether it is a reactionary progressive. This is the responsibility of the society. It is an internal matter of the people concerned of a certain country.”
